Music

Woodlands Primary School offers many opportunities for students to engage in music experiences in addition to specialist classroom instruction time. The school runs a Junior Choir and Senior Choir which perform at assemblies, One Big Voice and the Massed Choir Festival events.

As an Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) school, we offer a range of instruments including violin, viola, cello, clarinet, trumpet, and trombone. A String Ensemble is run for IMSS strings program students. These lessons provide music extension and an excellent pathway towards continuing Music studies at secondary school.

Our Specialist Music program provides students opportunities to explore music through singing, theory, movement, percussion, keyboard, ukulele and recorder. They are exposed to music from a range of cultures, times and locations. Students learn elements of rhythm, pitch, dynamics and expression, form, timbre and texture as they experience music as audience members, composers and performers. Our school is at the forefront of integrating digital technology into our music program using production and notation software to improvise, compose and record music.
