On Friday 20th August, our Junior Choir made us proud when they performed at the Matinee show of the One Big Voice Festival as part of Australia’s largest children’s choir.
The One Big Voice Festival brings together thousands of children singing positive and uplifting songs in harmony.
Our music specialist Mrs Danielle Rees has been working hard with the choir to prepare for the festival since the middle of Term 1. She was very proud of the way our students demonstrated our school values during rehearsals and the performance.
The students also enjoyed the experience of a lifetime, performing with their peers on the big stage at the Perth Arena to a large audience.
Some of their comments included the following
Austin Year 3: I loved that we all got to sing exactly the same songs in front of all the parents at RAC Arena.
Ava Year 3: I loved that we all got to participate in something so big and we got to show people our talents and got to sing our hearts out!
Ella Year 3: I love that we got to sing so many songs in front of all our parents. The way RAC Arena lit up was so cool!
Janik Year 3: I loved that we could sing all together with heaps of other kids from other schools and if we messed up it didn’t matter because we were such a big team. It was so fun learning the choreography to go with the songs.
Our students are to be commended for their efforts, as well Mrs Rees, who worked very hard to give Woodlands PS Junior Choir this opportunity. We would also like to thank our junior choir parents for coming along to the performance and all their efforts getting their children ready for the performance. Thanks also to accompanying staff Ali Collins, Sam Palmer, Stacey Brown and Karen McVeigh.
