We will be holding the Woodlands Primary School ‘Colour Run’ this Friday on the oval.
This is one of our major fundraising events for 2019 and will raise much needed money for new resources and initiatives within our school. We encourage the students to look at the list below and use these as motivation to fundraise for this event.
This year, just some of the initiatives our P&C is fundraising for are:
- Additions to the nature play area near the PP Playground
- Final stages of the Kindy playground upgrade
- New sporting equipment for all classrooms
- New library books for all age groups
- Upgrades to water fountains around the school
- Upgrades to toilet blocks around the school
- What is a Colour Run?
This fun event will see students starting the afternoon with a ‘Jump Jam’ track then making their way through a track full of fun, colour, water and music.
Whilst walking/jogging for around 40 minutes through a number of stations, they will be sprayed with different coloured non-toxic, gluten free powder. Wear a white top at the start line (these can be purchased from Kmart for $2.50 or an old white top from home is equally fine) and finish the event doused in all the colours of the rainbow!
How does my child fundraise?
Click here for a sponsorship form for cash donations to be collected and recorded, as well as informaiton on setting up a fundraising profile on everydayhero.com which will allow you to share their campaign via email and/or your social media channels . Money collected is due back to school along with the sponsorship form in week 2, term 2. Last year was the first time we have utilised online sponsorship and it saw a remarkable jump in generous donations.
For every $20 a student raises, they will receive a raffle ticket in a draw to win a fantastic prize. More details on this will follow with your online fundraising instructions. The more they raise, the better their chances of having a winning ticket!
A note on fundraising
We have educated students on the dangers of door knocking without adult supervision, and we encourage you to reiterate this at home. The best people to ask for sponsorship are people you know (e.g. friends, family, work colleagues and neighbours).
To set up online fundraising please click here for more details. It has proven to be the most effective method as donations can be easily received by friends and family who do not live locally. It also means less cash handling for students and parents along the way!
Thank you, good luck and happy fundraising!
