Swimming Lessons PP - Year 4
We are pleased to provide you with the following details regarding our swimming and water safety lessons at Bold Park Aquatic Centre over 2 weeks - from Monday 11th November to Friday 22nd November. While the lessons are provided free of charge, there is a cost for pool entry and bus hire for each session. All students are strongly encouraged to take part and to learn to swim. This is vital in our Australian culture and allows students to participate in a wide range of activities and sports as they grow older.
The cost of the Interm Swimming Series is $56.00 – for bus hire and pool entry over the 10 days.
Travel will be by Buswest bus hire. Please see the table below for the times your child will depart and return to school and their lesson time. In each session we have between 70 and 80 students attending. Students will be supervised on the bus by classroom teachers and taught at the pool by Education Department trained swimming instructors. The school staff will still maintain a high level of supervision and provide support to pool staff during lesson times. Students will undertake activities at the pool to develop the skills and abilities required to move through the stages of the Education Department Water and Swimming Safety continuum. If you need to make contact during the day please phone the school on 9416 9800.
Each day children will need to bring:
1. Bathers – please wear bathers under clothing if you are in the first two sessions of the day.
2. Thongs or slip on shoes to wear to and from the pool.
On returning to school all students will need to have proper footwear to get changed into. If they are
participating in physical education lessons they will need to have the appropriate footwear to wear for their lesson.
3. Dry school uniform to get changed into when they return to school.
4. A towel, goggles, sunscreen and a plastic bag to place all wet items in.
It is essential that ALL PERSONAL ITEMS ARE CLEARLY LABELLED WITH YOUR CHILD’S FULL NAME.
It is important that your child’s Health Care Summary is up to date. These can be updated at the school office. If the proposed excursion poses any additional health risks to those identified in the Student Health Care Summary, e.g. if your child suffers from anaphylaxis there may be risks associated with the provision of meals and storage of an adrenaline auto injector at the appropriate temperature. Please outline additional health risks on the permission slips attached.
Please see your classroom teacher if you have any more questions. Please see the attached information and permission forms for more details.
