On Wednesday 21 November, Mr Lyon’s and Mrs Dique’s Year 5/6 class hosted the whole school assembly. The audience was treated to a performance of the famous poem “The Man From Ironbark” written by Australian bush poet, Banjo Paterson. This poem was first published in The Bulletin on 17 December 1892. The poem relates the experiences of a naïve man from the bush who reacts badly to a practical joke sprung on him by a mischievous barber in Sydney.

To end the assembly, the students sang “From Little Things, Big Things Grow” by Paul Kelly. During the song, a video was played that the students designed using popstick puppets and a play to match the song.
